Wedding transportation is three separate problems that most couples discover about six weeks out: getting the wedding party to the venue, getting guests between hotel and reception, and the couple's own car. Here is how to plan all three from Portland, Oregon.
Start with the timeline, not the vehicles
Work backwards from the ceremony. When does hair and makeup finish? How long is the drive with traffic on a Saturday afternoon? When do photographs happen, and where?
Most transportation problems at weddings are timing problems rather than vehicle problems. Once the timeline is real, what you need becomes obvious.
Problem one, the wedding party
Getting eight to twelve people to the same place at the same time, dressed, without anyone getting lost.
One vehicle solves this. Our 12-seat Mercedes Sprinter is $375 per day, and because it is delivered to wherever the party is getting ready, nobody has to collect it or find parking beforehand.
For a smaller party, the Jeep Wagoneer seats eight at $195 per day and the Cadillac Escalade seats seven at $174.95.
Problem two, guests
If the reception has a bar and the venue is outside the city, wine country, the Gorge, the coast, guests need a way back that does not involve driving.
A 12-seat vehicle running two or three loops between hotel and venue covers a surprising number of people. It needs a driver who is not drinking, so this is usually a job for a family member who volunteers, or a hired driver.
Do not leave this to rideshare availability. Coverage outside the Portland metro is unreliable at the hour a reception ends.
Problem three, the couple's car
This is the one that ends up in the photographs, so it is worth some thought.
Our 2025 electric Mercedes G-Class is $425 per day and is the vehicle most often booked for this. It photographs well, it has presence, and it is unusual enough that people notice it.
The Escalade at $174.95 is the more traditional choice and does the same job for less.
What it costs to put together
A realistic wedding package from our fleet: Sprinter for the party and guest shuttling at $375 per day, plus the G-Class as the couple's car at $425. Two days minimum on each, plus $120 delivery.
For a smaller wedding, the Wagoneer at $195 plus the Escalade at $174.95 covers both jobs for considerably less.

How far ahead to book
We own one Sprinter and one G-Class. For a Saturday in wedding season, May through October in Oregon, several weeks ahead is realistic, and earlier is better.
Book the venue, then the photographer, then the transportation. It is usually third on the list and it is usually the one people leave too late.
What to ask any transportation provider
- What happens if the timeline slips? Weddings run late, what is the policy?
- Is there a minimum rental period? Ours is two days.
- Who is driving, and what happens if that person cannot?
- Is delivery included or extra? Ours is $120 within 25 miles of Portland.
- What are the mileage limits? Ours is 200 per day, which matters if the venue is in wine country.
